Yellow-Crowned Night Heron

The Yellow-Crowned Night Heron is common in the Southeast, but has spread farther north in recent years. This heron is more solitary and secretive than the Black-Crowned Night Heron. You can most often find these herons in coastal areas, foraging by day and by night for crustaceans, frogs, insects and fish.
